Our Story + Services

We're passionate about reviving the art of sourdough and serving our surrounding community with quality products made from clean ingredients - one order at a time.

From My Heart To Your Plate

Welcome! My name is Cadence Schreiber, and I started The Daily Bread straight out of my senior year of high school. Having grown up on a small dairy farm in Wisconsin, natural, homemade foods were the norm for me; however, it wasn't until I explored the art of sourdough and understood how few people have access to the same that I decided to start my business. I hope The Daily Bread is as much of a blessing to you as it is to me.

What is Sourdough?

All sourdough products begin with a sourdough starter, a continuously-growing substance made of wild lactobacillaceae and yeast cultures. These cultures naturally originate in flour when left to ferment with water. Once this starter is added to other ingredients to form a dough, fermentation takes place as the dough is worked and allowed to rise. Lactic acid from the fermentation allows the dough to rise, creates a sour taste in the end product, and improves keeping qualities. This lactic acid also kills any bad bacteria, which allows a sourdough starter to be kept for many years if properly cared for. Sourdough has the following additional benefits:

  • It is less likely to spike blood sugar due to its low glycemic index.

  • It contains higher levels of resistant starches that act as a prebiotic, feeding good bacteria in the stomach, which boosts gut health.

  • It is easier to digest since it isn’t made with commercial yeast.

  • It is overall richer in nutrients.

  • While not absent of gluten, sourdough contains less of the substance than other breads.

How It Works

Weekly Subscriptions

Our weekly subscriptions allow customers to receive sourdough products on a consistent basis. Customers can set up their subscription at any time (understanding that any product request requires at least four days' notice); however, subscriptions can only be canceled or changed up to three days before pickup. For example, if a customer begins a subscription to receive bread and bagels every Saturday, the last day to cancel or make changes would be Wednesday. If the customer fails to notify The Daily Bread of changes to or cancellation of their subscription before the deadline, they will be required to pay for and receive their requested products. This service amounts to the prices specified on the menu - there are no hidden fees or monthly expenses. To manage your subscription, simply contact us.

Order Policy

Placing an order gives customers more flexibility, whether they are trying our products for the first time, aren't ready to commit to our subscription service, or buying goods for a large event.

Large Orders (equal to or exceed $200)

Orders that exceed $200 require the completion of a provided contract and a 50% non-refundable down payment. The down payment must be received by The Daily Bread before the order can be confirmed and will be counted toward your final order total. These orders must be placed no later than two weeks in advance of the desired pickup date. Changes and cancellations for large orders can be made up to one week before the desired pickup date. If the customer fails to notify The Daily Bread of changes to or cancellation of their order before the deadline, they will be required to pay for and receive their requested products.

Small Orders (under $200)

Small orders can be paid for either at the time of placement or pickup and must be placed no later than four days in advance of the desired pickup date. These orders can be changed or canceled up to three days in advance of the desired pickup date. If the customer has paid the total at the time of placement and canceled before the deadline, they will be fully refunded. If the customer fails to notify The Daily Bread of changes to or cancellation of their order before the deadline, they will be required to pay for and receive their requested products.

Porch Pickups

Any time a customer has requested products from The Daily Bread, they will be required to and responsible for picking up their items. If the customer has placed an order, they will be expected at the date and time agreed upon. If a customer has started a subscription, they will be expected on the same day every week. The Daily Bread is not liable for any damage caused to products after they have left the location of pickup.

Accepted Payments

We currently accept cash and checks. Credit cards and apps such as Venmo are not accepted. Checks must be payable to The Daily Bread Sourdough & Sweets, LLC.
